13×4 vs. 13×6: The Deep Parting Guide

The difference is in the depth. While both offer ear-to-ear coverage, the vertical parting space determines styling versatility and profit margin.

4″ Depth

13×4 Standard Frontal

The industry standard. Offers a 4-inch deep parting space. Sufficient for middle parts and low ponytails.

Style Limit: Low Ponytail Only
Price Point: Economy
High Margin
6″ Depth

13×6 Extended Deep Part

The luxury choice. A massive 6-inch depth allows for deep side parts that reach behind the ear and half-up/half-down styles.

Style Limit: Deep Side Part / Half-Up
Price Point: Premium (+20% Margin)

B2B Strategy Tip: Target the Custom Maker

Wig makers prefer 13×6 Frontals because they mimic the natural hairline depth more accurately. Stocking 13×6 positions you as a “Professional Supplier” rather than a budget vendor.

Lace Architecture: Material Science

The “Melt” is determined by lace thickness. We offer two distinct grades: Ultra-fine HD for events and durable Transparent Swiss for daily wear.

Real HD Lace Premium

The thinnest lace on the market. The grid is so fine it disappears into the skin without makeup. Requires careful handling.

Invisibility (Melt) 10/10
Durability Low (Fragile)
Thickness 0.14mm
Usage Events / Shoots
Transparent Swiss Standard

The perfect balance of invisibility and strength. Slightly thicker than HD to withstand daily glue application and removal.

Invisibility (Melt) 8/10
Durability High (Daily)
Thickness 0.18mm
Usage Everyday Wear
Myth Buster

Why we don’t sell “Medium Brown” Lace

In modern manufacturing, pre-colored “Brown Lace” is obsolete. It often creates a dark cast on lighter skin tones that cannot be fixed. Transparent & HD Lace are universal—they start clear and can be tinted to any shade (from beige to dark chocolate) using a simple lace tint spray.

The “Pre-Plucked” Engineering

A true pre-plucked hairline isn’t made by removing hair—it’s engineered from the start with a graduated ventilation pattern. This structural approach saves your stylists 30+ minutes of customization time.

Frontal Density Map (Top View)
Zone C: 150% (Body)
Zone B: 100% (Transition)
Zone A: 80% (Micro-Hairline)
*Zone A uses single-knot ventilation to simulate natural growth density (Baby Hair).
A

Micro-Hairline 0-0.5″ Depth

Density: 80% | Single Knots
We use single-strand ventilation here. This creates a sparse, jagged edge that mimics a natural human hairline, eliminating the “helmet” line.

B

Transition Zone 0.5-1.5″ Depth

Density: 100% | Hybrid Knots
A buffer zone that gradually thickens. This prevents a visible “wall” of hair behind the hairline, ensuring a seamless fade into the main volume.

C

Main Body 1.5″+ Depth

Density: 150% | Double Knots
Full density starts here to cover tracks and provide volume. We use double knots for maximum durability to prevent shedding during brushing.

“Stylist-Ready” Guarantee: Because the density is pre-graduated, stylists skip the heavy plucking phase. Just bleach the knots (optional) and install.

Ventilation & Return Hairs: The Anti-Frizz Standard

The #1 sign of a cheap frontal is messy roots. We control the “Return Hairs”—the short ends created during knotting—to ensure a sleek, flat finish straight out of the box.

Micro-Knot Anatomy LACE GRID Standard Quality Frizzy Return Hair Our Process Heat-Pressed Flat
The “Flyaway” Factor: Short return hairs naturally occur when tying knots. If not heat-pressed flat, they stick up and create a “bushy” root effect.

Directional Heat Pressing

We don’t just tie the hair; we set it. Using a proprietary steam-mold process, return hairs are forced to lay flat against the lace. This means your stylists don’t need to use heavy mousse to tame the roots.

Micro-Knot Size (<0.3mm)

Big knots look like “black dots” on the scalp. We use single-strand ventilation to keep knot diameter under 0.3mm. Small knots bleach faster (15 mins) and cleaner, preserving the root strength.

Why it matters for bleaching

Thick knots require harsh 40-volume developer to bleach, often burning the lace. Our Micro-Knots lift easily with mild 20-volume developer, preventing “orange roots” and lace tearing.

QC & Inspection Checklist

Frontals are complex systems. Use this audit protocol to verify ear-tab symmetry and lace elasticity to prevent installation failures.

Lace Frontal Audit Protocol

Copy these specs for your supplier inquiry.

  • Ear-Tab Contour Check Must be a symmetrical arc shape. Straight cuts will not lay flat on ears.
  • Lateral Stretch Test (13″) Pull across width. Lace must remain flat with no rippling/buckling.
  • Clean Parting Verification Separate hair at 4″ and 6″ depth. No filler hairs should block the “scalp”.
  • Hairline Stress Test Finger-comb the single knots. Zero shedding allowed in the first inch.

Preventing “Lifting Ears”

The most common defect in cheap frontals is a Straight Cut Ear Tab. The human hairline curves down at the temples. A frontal must mirror this arc. If it’s straight, the lace will lift up at the ears, ruining the installation.

Parting Depth Warning

Beware of “Fake 13×6” frontals. Some suppliers provide 6 inches of lace in the middle, but it sharply tapers to 2 inches on the sides. Always verify the parting depth extends wide for versatile styling.

Lace Frontal Technical FAQ

Expert answers regarding installation methods, density ratios, and maintenance for wholesale buyers.

Can I wear a frontal without glue (Glueless)?
Technically yes, if using an elastic band method. However, frontals are designed for ear-to-ear adhesion to lay perfectly flat against the temples. For a true “throw on and go” glueless experience, we recommend Lace Closures instead.
Why is the frontal density lower than the bundles?
A natural hairline is never as thick as the back of the head. We ventilate frontals at 130-150% density to prevent the “helmet effect.” If a frontal matches the 180% density of a bundle, it will look artificial and bulky at the scalp.
How do I prevent the frontal from balding?
Balding is often caused by over-bleaching knots or scratching the lace. We recommend: 1) Using a Knot Sealer Spray after bleaching, 2) Avoiding applying conditioner directly to the roots (it loosens knots), and 3) Using a wide-tooth comb.
What is the main advantage of 13×6 over 13×4?
Parting Depth. A 13×6 frontal allows for a 6-inch deep part anywhere along the hairline. This enables complex styles like deep side parts, half-up/half-down ponytails, and braids that go further back, justifying a higher retail price point.
Do you seal the knots at the factory?
We heat-press the roots to direct the hair backward (reducing flyaways), but we leave the chemical sealing to the stylist. Factory sealing can sometimes interfere with bleaching knots. We prioritize a clean, raw canvas for customization.
